Zippy Systems : The early years.
Zippy Systems was started by Dan Maskell when Venturon Data Systems Limited was taken over by Rotadata in 1995. Taking on the support contract for
the Venturon Programme Share system used by the BBC, which he had been instrumental in developing, along with then colleague John Griggs. He had started working on the project before Venturon had been formed. This turned out to be a successful and exceptionally long lived system only being de-commissioned in May 2011.
Zippy Systems' first customer was Bitbox with which we worked on a production line system to produce early re-recordable disks known as PD's but similar in format to CDs now. This was followed by a number of small projects. Notable among then was a wave radar being developed using National Instrument's Labview package.
